Our
church is an amalgamation of two Congregational churches -
Portland Road Congregational Church founded in 1867 (sold
to a British Muslim sect in 1993) and Hazel Grove Congregational
Church founded in 1892. In 1972 both churches became part
of the United Reformed Church and since then the Rev. Thomas
Irvine is minister to both, still being the present incumbent.
In the year 2001 extensions to the sanctuary were made together
with the building of a hall, meeting rooms, vestry and new
kitchen. It was consecrated in 2003 and is in use today.
